


Diriamba is located in the department of Carazo, Nicaragua, in a privileged area of pleasant climate, friendly people, beautiful beaches and excellent coffee plantations.
The city owes its name to the Cacique Diriangén, who was the head of an indian tribe of the place when the spaniards arrived in the 15th century
Diriamba is the birthplace of "El Gueguense" or male mouse. The play is the first character of the Nicaraguan Literature. The Theater Play represents the folklore of Nicaragua and has been declared by the UNESCO Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity, the work was written in spanish and nahuatl dialect by an anonymous author of the 17th century.
Diriamba is also the cradle of the National Horse Riding and Nicaraguan Football.
